i remember the first time i had pine & crane at dtla, i couldn't stop thinking about it. i had the opportunity to go to the silverlake location and while it was good, it wasn't as good as the one in dtla. the silverlake shop is a lot smaller than the one in dtla... the seating honestly feels cramped up so that wasn't my favorite. it's also pretty rowdy so if you're trying to have a meal and conversations, i wouldn't recommend this place. the servers were nice, the food came out pretty fast. the PARKING. that was a pain in the butt. for those reasons, i docked off a point... convenience and experience matters. the food is great! the dan dan noodles is one of my favorites, the pan fried buns are yummy, and the beef noodle soup is solid as well. food wise, there's not much of a difference in comparison to the dtla one.

One of the go-to's in DTLA. Also enjoy walking here cause it's on the nicer side of downtown. Food wise it's pretty legit for simple Taiwanese dishes. For breakfast (before 11am), I enjoy the DAN BING and also the FAN TUAN with no you tiao (it comes with a braised egg inside). For lunch/dinner, everything on the menu is good.

Ambiance: 10/10, relaxed and cozy vibe, had bookshelves and paper lamps, very Silverlake Food: 7/10, really wanted to like it but the flavor wasn't there for me (626 area still has better Taiwanese options) (maybe I'm biased though - I'm Taiwanese as well) Service: 9/10, our server was really trying his best! but perhaps understaffed the night i went, had to make extra effort to flag for anything (e.g. fork, water refill, etc) Overall: 8/10

When you arrive you order first and get a number and find a table. There was someone who greeted us and went over the menu and will help with getting your table. Dan Dan Noodles: yummy peanut sauce with noodles and cucumbers, overall delicious. I wished I could add some chicken to the dish, but unfortunately it wasn't an option. Still delicious nonetheless. Beef Roll: this roll is delicious. Crispy outside somewhat like roti flatbread, and the beef is deliciously flavorful with fresh long slivers of cucumber. Taiwanese sausage: this is a small side, but I wanted some protein since I didn't get it in my noodle dish. The sausage is sliced and comes with thinly sliced garlic. It's really good, and a nice addition. Drinks: They have beer wine and sake. I ordered sake, recommended by the cashier and it was refreshing and yummy. My boyfriend tried the Taiwanese beer and also enjoyed it. Overall we really enjoyed our meal. The food was delicious and not overpriced. The staff were also very friendly and helpful since it was our first visit. We will definitely be going back to try more of their food items!

I came here on a Thursday afternoon between 1-2:15pm with my work team, hence the lack of photos as clearly we were all starving! The scallion pancakes were soooo tasty, great little appetizer for the table before our main dishes came. I got the Three Cup Jidori Chicken with rice and Pork Potstickers. The chicken was so tender and juicy and there was a LOT of it (I have plenty of leftovers!). The rice came in a small bowl, separate from the chicken (although it is considered a rice dish) so I was able to portion out my rice with chicken, it was perfect This was a great place to meet for a group lunch, we were in and out in a little over an hour. It wasn't too crowded in there, easily found seats to fit the 5 of us and we got our food SO FAST I would definitely go here again!

This place saved me when I had jaw surgery and couldn't chew properly since a lot of the food is soft and braised. Very humble and homey restaurant with reasonable prices and good vibes overall! Pork Mapo Tofu: 10/10 -- This dish hits different. The sauce is thick, packed with rich flavor and clings to the silky tofu. The pork adds another dimension of savory to the dish. Three Cup Chicken: 8/10 -- Not a fan of the big slices of ginger that mask as chicken, but the chicken was infused with great flavor from the sesame oil, soy sauce, and rice wine. Basil Eggplant: 2/10 -- Biased since I usually don't order eggplant, but there was no flavor at all --- This location is a lot smaller than the DTLA location, but the service here is far better! The people that work here checked in on how food was and gave us extra rice to pack to go for the leftovers

Yummy and unique food! Lots of great vegan options! It's very busy and there can be a wait, but once you sit down, your food comes out insanely fast. I think if this place was not hyped up so much I would rate it a 5, but my expectations were very high. I ordered the vegan scallion pancake, dan dan noodles, basil eggplant, peanut salad, and bok choy dumplings. The basil eggplant was delicious and came with a side of fresh rice. The Dan Dan noodles had a nice creamy peanut sauce, but to be honest, I think we're too hyped up. The dumplings had a great homemade wonton and came with a yummy sauce, but there was a herb or spice aftertaste that I did not love. The scallion pancake was only OK - I prefer them to be thinner and more flaky. I would skip the peanut salad- not the best and literally just peanuts with herbs. The mapo tofu is very popular, but I did not have a chance to try it. My non-vegan partner ordered the jidori chicken, which he enjoyed. Overall, I would definitely come at least once to try.

Really yummy! It's like eating at a local Taiwanese spot. Everything was delicious, light & refreshing. The cold salad choices all looked delicious. We opted for the fungus mushroom one and it was soo good. The dan dan noodles were our favorite. I wish they incorporated more spice into the dishes but there is chili oil available to add to your liking on the tables. We were able to order and get seated within 5 minutes.
